Family Fun

#77: Visit 3 Siblings

1. April in Brighton, Colorado (October 2013)
I went to Denver for an APS Physics Conference and bought a plane ticket home so I could stay a bit and visit April & family. It was in this visit that Paul was officially taller than me. No going back. I was kind of drained after the conference, but I was so grateful to just come to a home where I can feel the love so strong. I don't think most good families realize what a distinct feeling they have in their home. It is the Spirit of God blessing them. I love being in their home because of that.

2. Miriam in Monticello, Utah (November 2013)
I took a weekend in November to drive down to Monticello (first road trip in my car). It snowed the ENTIRE time I was there and I had to get new windshield wipers! I loved my time there and just wanted to stay another week. I was so grateful to go to the Temple with my sister. It was a wonderful experience--even when the power went out!

Die deutsche Oper

#4. Attend a German (language) Opera/Play

Die Fledermaus: November 2013. Well, the dialogue was in English, but all the songs were in German. What a great performance! I went to see Andrew Neumayer perform and attended with Carli Downs.

Recital Recitations

#41. Attend 11 Recitals
1. Dr. Hancock's piano and ballet recital (17. July 2013)

2. Organ Recital at Cathedral of the Madeline in SLC in August 2013
I attended this recital after hearing about it on the radio (Classical 89, BYU!) and really enjoyed it! Arthur Lui came along, too.

Hiking Around

#52. Hike 5 Hikes

1. Stewart Falls (16. July 2013)

2. Rock Canyon (24. July 2013)

3. West Mountain near West Mountain Observatory (in July-August 2013)

4. Hike Y-Mount (at night!) with Jessica Morgan and Jared Forsyth. This was a spontaneous trip after seeing a (my first) Divine Comedy show. Great show! Sometime in October 2013.

Epic Football Game

#93: Attend a BYU sports game

As the FIRST football game OF MY LIFE I saw BYU vs. Idaho State on Saturday, November 16 (2013). It rained or snowed virtually the entire time I was there (we left at half-time once it was 49 to 3 and we felt pretty sure we would win). Go Cougars!!

Burning the Past

#90: burn something of mine in a bonfire

Jessica Morgan and I went up Provo Canyon and burned a bunch of my things from the past. I just moved and don't have room for anything extra (don't worry, Mom, I am keeping plenty of pictures from your scrapbooks). My favorite item burnt was a sealed envelope from when I was 14. We had a young women's activity where we described our "dream man". I read over it and was honestly kind of sickened by the questions they had us answer: "describe what your dream man/husband will look like" and "what will your wedding colors be" and "in what temple do you want to get married". I was 13 or 14. Yikes. By the way, at 14 years old, I thought I would get married in the Hong Kong temple. Ha!
